Widget Studio Privacy Policy
- Widget Studio has no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no server of our own. Your designs stay on your device.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects some device and usage data. See Advertising.
- If you use a weather widget, the app sends the location of the place you chose to a weather service to get the forecast.
- Every permission is optional and is only requested when you use the feature that needs it.
- You can delete all app data at any time in Settings → Data → Reset all data, or by uninstalling the app.
1. Who we are
Widget Studio (the "app") is published on Google Play by [DEVELOPER NAME] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies only to the Widget Studio Android app.
2. Data that stays on your device
The following is stored or processed only on your device. We never receive it.
- Your designs and settings: widget layouts, text you type, themes, counters, habits and preferences. They are saved in the app's private storage.
- Images you choose: when you add a picture to a design, you pick it with the Android system picker. The app copies only that one image into its private storage. It does not browse your photos and has no storage permission.
- Calendar events (only if you add a calendar element and allow access): upcoming events are read into memory to draw the widget. They are not saved to disk or logged.
- Step count (only if you add a steps element and allow physical activity access): read from the device's step sensor to show on the widget.
- Media playback info (only if you add a media element and allow notification access): the title, artist and album art of what is currently playing, taken from Android's media session. Album art is resized and kept in private storage so the widget can show it. The app does not read the content of your notifications.
- Battery, network, storage, alarm and clock information: read from Android to display on widgets.
- A weather API key (only if you choose OpenWeatherMap and enter your own key): it is encrypted with a hardware-backed Android Keystore key and never included in backups or exports.
3. Data that leaves your device
We do not operate any server and do not receive your personal data. Some information is sent directly from your device to the third parties below, only for the purposes listed.
| Recipient | What is sent | When | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open-Meteo (default weather provider) | The latitude and longitude of the place shown on your weather widget, and the city name you type when searching for a place. As with any internet request, your IP address is visible to the service. | Only if you use a weather element | To get the forecast and find places by name |
| OpenWeatherMap (optional) | The same coordinates, plus the API key you entered | Only if you choose this provider | To get the forecast |
| Google AdMob | Device and usage data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK (see section 4) | When ads are shown (not for Pro users) | Advertising, measuring ads, preventing fraud |
| Google Play | Purchase information, handled by Google Play | Only if you buy Pro | Processing and verifying your purchase |
If you choose "Use my location" for weather, the app reads your device's last known approximate (coarse) location. It does not use GPS-precise location and does not track your location in the background. The location is used only for that request and is not stored. If you choose a city by hand instead, your device location is never read.
All network requests use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Weather providers handle data under their own terms: Open-Meteo terms · OpenWeather privacy policy.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of Widget Studio shows ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK built into the app may collect and process:
- Device identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID
- Your IP address and the approximate location derived from it
- Device and app information, such as device model, OS version, language and app version
- Ad interactions, such as ads viewed and tapped, and diagnostic data such as crash and performance information
This data is collected and used by Google under Google's policies. We do not receive your Advertising ID or any other information that identifies you. Learn more:

- Google Privacy Policy

Your ad choices
- You can reset your Advertising ID or turn off ad personalisation in your device's settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads. The exact path depends on your Android version.
- Where required by law (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice later.
- Buying Widget Studio Pro removes all ads. After that, the app no longer loads ads.
5. Purchases (Google Play)
Widget Studio Pro is sold through Google Play Billing, as a one-time purchase or a subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card number or payment details. The app only checks with Google Play whether you own Pro. Google Play processes your purchase under the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions.
6. Permissions and why they are used
Every permission is optional. It is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and the app keeps working if you say no.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Internet, network state | Weather forecasts, ads, and showing network status on a widget |
| Approximate location | Weather for your current area, only when you choose "Use my location" |
| Physical activity | The steps element |
| Calendar (read only) | The calendar element |
| Phone (make calls) | A widget button you set up to call a number you typed. The app never reads your contacts. |
| Notification access | Showing and controlling music playback on a media widget. It is required by Android for media session access. Notification content is not read. |
| Do Not Disturb access | A widget button that toggles Do Not Disturb |
| Modify system settings | A widget button that changes screen brightness |
| Run at startup, vibrate | Keeping widgets updated after a restart, and optional haptic feedback on taps |
| Advertising ID | Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising (see section 4) |
The app does not use the microphone, camera, contacts, precise location, background location or storage permissions.
7. Backups and export
If Android backup is on for your Google account, Android may include your designs and settings in your device backup. That backup is stored by Google, not by us, and you control it in your device settings. Encrypted secrets such as a weather API key are excluded from backups.
You can export your designs to a file you choose, and import them again. An export contains only designs. It never contains API keys, location, calendar or media data.
8. Retention and deletion
- Data on your device is kept until you delete it. Settings → Data → Reset all data deletes all designs, images and settings. Uninstalling the app deletes everything too.
- We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on a server.
- For data collected by Google (ads, purchases) or by weather providers, their own retention policies apply. You can manage Google data at myaccount.google.com.
9. Security
Data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Network traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Sensitive values such as a weather API key are encrypted with the Android Keystore. Release builds do not log personal data.
10. Children
Widget Studio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help resolve it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not collect or store your personal data ourselves, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device or with Google:
- Delete app data: Settings → Data → Reset all data, or uninstall the app
- Ad personalisation and Advertising ID: your device's ad settings, or the consent form shown in the app
- Location, calendar, activity and notification access: revoke at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Widget Studio → Permissions
We do not sell your personal information. For any privacy question or request, contact us using the details below.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
